Tainan Golf Club is situated in the hilly area of Xinhua District, Tainan City. Due to its location, it is affectionately known as "Xinhua Golf Course" in the golf circles of Southern Taiwan. The course officially opened in 1976, making it the first golf course in the Tainan area and one of the oldest established golf courses in Southern Taiwan. The course is conveniently located just over ten minutes' drive from downtown Tainan, making it an excellent green space for many golfers in the south to socialize and hone their skills.
This 18-hole, par-72 course, while not boasting extreme length at 6,523 yards by modern standards, offers no less a challenge. The course design fully utilizes the natural terrain of the Hutoupi foothills, with fairways winding through valleys and ridges. Both sides of the fairways are lined with dense Norfolk pines and natural broadleaf forests, creating narrow and imposing natural barriers. Coupled with firm and fast greens, the course presents a rigorous test of a golfer's driving accuracy and iron shot placement, making it a strategic course where accuracy far outweighs power and distance.
Beyond its distinctive fairway design, the natural ecology and beautiful scenery of Tainan Golf Club are also major highlights. During a round, golfers can admire the picturesque scenery of the famous "Hutoupi" Reservoir nearby, especially around the 14th hole, where the lake and mountains come into full view. In recent years, the course management team has actively invested resources in upgrades, not only renovating the fairways and greens with more vibrant flowers and plants but also becoming the first course in the south to fully implement YAMAHA magnetic induction golf carts. Combined with the quaint pro shop and pavilions, this historic old course continues to welcome every golf enthusiast with high-quality service.
