Taiwan Golf and Country Club (Old Tamshui Golf Course)

Taiwan Golf Club, Taiwan's first golf course, has a history of over a century since its establishment in 1919. The course not only boasts elegant scenery but also comprehensive facilities, making it one of the few golf courses in Taiwan that meets world-class standards.

Located in Tamsui, a town rich in culture, this golf course blends with historical sites such as Fort San Domingo, Oxford College, and Christ College, creating a unique cultural landscape and possessing significant historical value.

Through arduous pioneering work, step by step, we commemorate the hardships endured by our predecessors in its founding. Having gone through the Japanese colonial era, the ravages of war, Taiwan's retrocession, and the current difficulties in operations, it is thanks to the dedication of past presidents and the board of directors, as well as the support and efforts of our members, that many world-renowned players have been nurtured here. The course once earned the reputation of being among the world's top fifty, establishing its leading position.

It is truly remarkable for a golf course to span two centuries. We hope that this course can embody the "Tamsui humanistic spirit," cultivating more outstanding players to bring honor to our nation and achieve worldwide renown, ensuring that this course forever remains a part of Taiwan's historical assets. This is our shared vision.

Shiro Akahoshi / Rebuilt after the war by Chen Chin-shih and others

Initially a 6-hole course planned by Japanese officials in 1919, it was expanded and redesigned into an 18-hole championship course by Japanese golf legend and course architect Shiro Akahoshi in 1929. After World War II, it was rebuilt by Chen Chin-shih, known as the "Father of Taiwanese Golf," along with Chen Huo-shun, Hsieh Wan-yi, and others. The design fully utilized the natural undulations of the Tamsui hills and the dense ancient trees, perfectly blending the natural landscape with highly strategic elements, laying the foundation for the classic appearance of this century-old course today.
